Wakizashi - short wooden bokken. Can be used in conjunction with another wakizashi, tanto or bokken. Good for fencing with two swords. The wood is treated with a transparent oil that protects the weapon from moisture and dirt.

European Hornbeam is a fine wood, with a beautiful creamy color. It's one of the woods called “ironwood". It's hard, takes sheering forces well, and is almost exemplary for practice weapons.
